Bareilly- History of The City |
Bareilly was founded in 1537 by Bans Deo and Barel Deo, the
two sons of Jagat Singh Katheriya, who founded a village called Jagatpur,
a name which is still retained by one of the localities of the old city.
The district of Bareilly forms a part of the Rohilkhand
Division and is named after its headquarter city, the foundation of which
can be dated sometime in the first half of the sixteenth century.

The city of Bareilly is located about 248 KMs East to New Delhi in the
Uttar Pradesh (UP) province of India. The geographical location is between Lat.28º 1' & 28º 54' N and Long. 78º 58' & 79º 47' E. The
